Fitness fanatic Chris Hooker, Shift Manager at Frederick R Miller in Shackleford, conquered Mount Kilimanjaro in February and raised over £2,000 for the Drive Out Male Cancer Campaign and local charity Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.
Determined to test his strength, Hooker climbed Africa's highest peak in six days via the Machame route, renowned for being the most challenging way of climbing Kilimanjaro!
Following his descent, Hooker said: "I made it to the top! It was the hardest thing I have ever done, battling through pain for the last four days."
Closer to home, a total of 35 people from the company, including members of staff and their friends and family, walked 12 miles in the pouring rain to raise an additional £2000 for the charities.
Elvie Carpenter, charity coordinator at Frederick R Miller, said: “Everyone had a great day, despite the rain! It was brilliant to see everyone pulling together for charity, and although the weather was bad, everyone kept their spirits up and really earned their money. We feel extremely proud to have raised so much money for such worthy causes, and I’d like to thank everyone that took part.”
